Lampung Province's NTP in March 2012 for each subsector was recorded at 133.69 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 111.37 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 127.15 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 105.57 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 114.15 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 124.34.
The decline in prices in the rice and secondary crop sub-sectors, such as the price of grain and corn, as well as the decline in prices in the horticultural crop sub-sector, such as bananas and red chilies, caused Lampung's NTP to fall 0.27 percent compared to the previous month.
Compared with February 2012, it can be seen that three NTP sub-sectors experienced an increase, namely the smallholder plantation crops sub-sector which rose 0.46 percent, the livestock sub-sector rose 0.09 percent, and the fisheries sub-sector rose 0.30 percent. Meanwhile, sub-sectors experienced a decline, namely the rice and secondary crops sub-sector which fell 0.35 percent and the horticultural crops sub-sector fell 1.23 percent. Of the 32 provinces, 9 provinces experienced an increase in NTP and 23 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP.
The highest increase in NTP occurred in West Kalimantan Province, namely 1.13 percent, this was because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.51 percent, while the price received by farmers increased by 1.64 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in Central Java Province, which fell by 0.86 percent, because the price paid by farmers increased by 0.13 percent while the price received by farmers actually fell by 0.73 percent.
March 2012 saw inflation in rural areas in Lampung Province amounting to 0.11 percent. Inflation in rural areas was mainly caused by an increase in the price index in the transportation and communication group as well as an increase in the index in other groups except the foodstuffs group which was triggered by the government's plan to increase fuel prices.
