Abstract

The total export value of Lampung Province in May 2011 reached US$ 321 million or decreased by US$ 64.62 million (16.74%) compared to exports in April 2011. Export conditions in May 2011, when compared with May 2010, increased by US$ 120.66 million (60, 11%) of US$200.72 million.

The two main categories of goods experiencing a decline in export value in May 2011 compared to April 2011 were pulp/pulp US$17.05 million; and wood, wooden goods US$6.96 million. Eight other main categories of goods experienced an increase in export value in May 2011 compared to April 2011. The highest decline occurred in the non-10 main categories of goods (others), reaching US$153.76 million. The largest increase in exports occurred in the animal/vegetable fats & oils category, US$49.99 million; coffee, tea, spices US$23.56 million; cocoa/chocolate US$12.62 million; rubber and rubber goods US$7.59 million; processed fruit/vegetables US$5.90 million; fish and shrimp US$5.71 million; organic chemicals US$5.08 million; and processed meat and fish US$2.70 million.

The import value of Lampung Province, in May 2011, reached US$250.30 million or an increase of US$52.15 million (26.32%) compared to April 2011 which was recorded at US$198.15 million. Lampung Province's imports in May 2011, when compared with May 2010, increased by US$128.92 million from US$121.38 million.

The largest increase in imports occurred in the sugar and confectionery goods category, US$39.94 million; Oilseeds US$6.82 million; Living Animals US$4.59 million; and Food Industry Waste/Residue US$2.22 million. The next category of goods was Salt, Sulfur, Lime which increased by US$0.17 million. Five categories of goods, out of the 10 main categories of imported goods, experienced an increase and five others experienced a decrease. The largest decrease in imports occurred in Milling Products, US$10.42 million; Electrical Machinery/Equipment US$8.81 million; Machinery/Aircraft Mechanics US$5.84 million; Wheat – wheat US$5.13 million; and Fertilizer US$0.78 million
