At
the beginning of 2011, the foodstuffs group contributed the most to
inflation in the city of Bandar Lampung. Meanwhile, in December 2010,
the group of prepared foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco was the
largest contributing group, but in January 2011 it was ranked second.
The increase in prices of various commodities in these two groups and
some in other groups resulted in inflation in Bandar Lampung City of
0.83 percent.
A
total of six groups in December experienced an increase in their index.
The group that contributes most to inflation is food, especially due to
rising prices of several commodities such as red chilies, tuna,
shallots and cucumbers. Meanwhile, in the ready-made food, beverages,
cigarettes and tobacco groups, the most dominant commodities are
filtered clove cigarettes, noodles and white cigarettes. Inflation in
Bandar Lampung City was ranked 41st out of 66 cities where price
developments were observed. A total of 62 cities experienced inflation
and 4 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in
Padang at 3.70 percent, while the largest deflation occurred in Sorong
at 1.07 percent.
Based
on the calculation of the consumer price index (CPI), inflation
occurred due to an increase in the index in six expenditure groups,
namely foodstuffs 1.43 percent, ready-made food, drinks, cigarettes and
tobacco 1.04 percent, housing 0.35 percent, clothing 1.31 percent ,
health 0.14 percent, and transport and communications 0.43 percent. The
education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in
the index.
Several
commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include red
chilies, filtered clove cigarettes, gold jewelry, household fuel,
gasoline, tuna, red onions, cement and cucumbers. Calendar year
inflation (point to point) is the same as inflation in January 2011,
namely 0.83 percent, while year on year (yoy) inflation in Bandar
Lampung City was 10.32 percent.
