The city of Bandar Lampung, at the beginning of this year experienced inflation of 1.00 percent. There are six expenditure groups that contribute to the formation of inflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the foodstuffs group; prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups; health group; clothing group; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups; and the transport, communications and financial services group. Meanwhile, education, recreation and sports groups did not contribute.
Six expenditure groups in January 2013 experienced an increase in the index which caused inflation. Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 42nd out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. Of the 66 cities, 62 cities experienced inflation and only 4 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga at 3.78 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Pontianak at 0.01 percent. Sorong City experienced high deflation at 0.98 percent, while Ternate City experienced low deflation at 0.20 percent.
Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation in Bandar Lampung City occurred due to an increase in the index in the foodstuffs group which rose 3.35 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.26 percent; health group rose 0.25 percent; and the clothing group rose 0.09 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose 0.03 percent; and the transportation, communications and financial services group rose 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in the index.
Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include garlic, rice, tomatoes, red chilies, fresh mackerel fish, green mustard greens, purebred chicken meat, purebred chicken eggs, fruit tomatoes, stones and red onions. Based on calculations of calendar year inflation (point to point) and year on year (yoy) inflation for Bandar Lampung City in January 2013, they were 1.00 percent and 4.69 percent respectively.
