In July 2022 there was inflation of 0.75 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.34. Of the 90 CPI cities, all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kendari at 2.27 percent with a CPI of 113.98 and the lowest occurred in Pemantang Siantar and Tanjung at 0.04 percent with a CPI of 112.53 and 113.88, respectively.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of five expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages, and tobacco by 1.68 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.19 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.57 percent; transportation group by 1.23 percent; and the education group by 0.80 percent. Furthermore, there were two groups experiencing deflation, namely the health group of 0.43 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.56 percent. Four groups did not change
prices are clothing and footwear groups; information, communication and financial services group; recreation, sports, and cultural groups; and groups providing food and beverages/restaurants.
The inflation rate for the calendar year (July 2022 to December 2022) is 4.34 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2022 to July 2021) is 5.52 percent.
