Bandar Lampung May 2020 Deflation of 0.29 percent

Abstract

May 2020, the city of Bandar Lampung experienced a deflation of 0.29 percent. Deflation occurred due to falling prices as indicated by the falling price index in the food, beverage and tobacco expenditure group by 1.60 percent; and the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.03 percent. In contrast, six expenditure groups experienced an increase in the price index (inflation), namely the group of equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.37 percent; health group 0.28 percent; transportation group 0.37 percent; information, communication and financial services group 1.52 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply group 0.15 percent; and the personal care and other services group 0.47 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel groups; and the education group did not experience
price index changes.

The dominant commodities contributing to the formation of deflation in May 2020 include: rice with a share of 0.19 percent; red chili 0.15 percent; garlic 0.10 percent; purebred chicken eggs 0.09 percent; cayenne pepper 0.05 percent; grapes 0.02 percent; squid 0.02 percent; 0.01 percent sugar; oranges 0.01 percent; and green chili 0.004 percent.

The calendar year inflation rate (January - May 2020) is 0.41 percent, and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2020 against May 2019) is 1.50 percent.
