October 2013, the city of Bandar Lampung experienced inflation again. Four expenditure groups contribute to the formation of inflation in Bandar Lampung City, namely the foodstuffs group which contributes 0.38 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group contributed 0.10 percent; the transport, communications and financial services group contributed 0.02 percent; and the health group contributed 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing group and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups contributed to deflation of 0.01 percent each. Meanwhile, the education, recreation and sports groups did not contribute this October. Price changes in the seven expenditure groups caused inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 0.49 percent.
Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include red chilies, tempeh, oranges, bananas, satay, raw tofu, fresh squid, fresh tuna, apples and rice.
Based on the calculation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation in Bandar Lampung City occurred due to an increase in the index in the foodstuffs group which rose by 1.37 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.48 percent; health group rose 0.38 percent; and the transportation, communications and financial services group which rose 0.12 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing group fell by 0.23 percent and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group fell by 0.05 percent. Meanwhile, the education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in the index.
Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 17th out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. Of the 66 cities, 39 cities experienced inflation and 27 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga at 1.25 percent, while the lowest inflation occurred in Samarinda at 0.04 percent. The largest deflation was experienced by the city of Ambon at 3.82 percent, while the smallest deflation occurred in the city of Watampone at 0.02 percent.
Bandar Lampung City, based on calendar year (point to point) inflation calculations in October 2013, was 7.58 percent and year on year (yoy) inflation was 7.96 percent.
