The total workforce in Lampung Province in August 2011 reached 3.70 million people, a decrease of 151 thousand people compared to the total workforce in February 2011.
In line with the point above, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) in August 2011 reached 68.00 percent or decreased by 3.13 percent when compared with the same indicator in February 2011 (71.13 percent).
The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Lampung Province in August 2011 reached 5.78 percent, or an increase compared to the situation in February 2011 (5.24 percent).
On the other hand, the number of working residents in Lampung Province in August 2011 reached 3,482 thousand people, a decrease of 164 thousand people compared to the situation in February 2011 which was recorded at 3,646 thousand people.
In the last six months (February 2011-August 2011) not all sectors experienced a decline in the number of workers. The decline in the number of workers occurred in the agriculture, plantation, forestry and fisheries sector group by almost 225 thousand people (11.60 percent), as well as in the trade, restaurant and accommodation services sector group by 63 thousand people (9.42 percent). However, several main sectors still show quite sharp increases, such as what happened in the industrial sector group and the community, social and personal services sector group.
Along with the decline in the number of people working in the agricultural, plantation, forestry and fisheries sectors in the last six months, the number of people who have the status of casual workers in the agricultural sector has also decreased significantly to 7.14 percent, namely from 182 thousand people in February 2011 to 169 thousand people in August 2011.
