August 2011, the city of Bandar Lampung experienced inflation. The food ingredients group makes a very large contribution to the formation of inflation in the city of Bandar Lampung. Then successively followed by the clothing group; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups; prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups; health group; and the transport, communications and financial services group. Meanwhile, only one group did not contribute to inflation in August 2011, namely the education, recreation and sports group. The increase in prices of various commodities in the six expenditure groups resulted in inflation in Bandar Lampung City of 0.71 percent.
In August 2011, six expenditure groups experienced an increase in the index which caused inflation, and only the education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in the index. Inflation in Bandar Lampung City was ranked 43rd out of 66 cities where price developments were observed. A total of 66 or all cities observed experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang at 3.05 percent, while the lowest inflation was in Denpasar at 0.02 percent.
Based on the calculation of the consumer price index (CPI), inflation occurred due to an increase in the index in the clothing group, up 2.83 percent; food ingredients group rose 0.99 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas, fuel group rose 0.66 percent; the prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose 0.49 percent; health expenditure group rose 0.29 percent; and the transport, communications and financial services group rose 0.03 percent. The education, recreation and sports groups did not experience changes in the index.
Several commodities that dominantly contribute to inflation include gold jewelry, cobs, house contracts, red chilies, live chickens, beef, fresh squid, noodles (cooked), cement and granulated sugar. Calendar year (point to point) inflation in August 2011 was 2.82 percent, while year on year (yoy) inflation in Bandar Lampung City was 6.46 percent.
