Lampung
Province's NTP in January 2011 for each subsector was recorded at
126.08 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 107.02 for
the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 112.93 for the People's Plantation
Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 105.45 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt)
and 112.53 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the
Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 117.29.
The
increase in prices in the food crop sub-sector, such as the price of
grain and the increase in prices in the horticultural crop sub-sector,
such as chilies, were unable to improve farmers' welfare because the
prices of consumer goods/services were much higher, causing Lampung's
NTP to fall by 0.69 percent compared to the previous month.
If
the NTP per subsector in January 2011 is compared with December 2010,
it can be seen that two of the five NTP subsectors experienced an
increase, the smallholder plantation crops subsector rose 0.12 percent
and the fisheries subsector rose 0.06 percent while three subsectors
experienced a decline, namely the subsector food crops (1.19%),
horticultural crops sub-sector (0.15%) and livestock sub-sector (0.76).
Of
the 32 provinces reported in January 2011, 20 provinces experienced an
increase in NTP and 12 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP. The
highest increase in NTP in January 2011 occurred in North Sulawesi
Province, namely 1.05 percent, this was because the price paid by
farmers only rose 0.36 percent, while the price received by farmers rose
1.41 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in Papua
Province, which fell by 0.93 percent, due to an increase in prices paid
by farmers of 0.62 percent while prices received by farmers fell by 0.31
percent.
January
2011 saw inflation in rural areas in Lampung Province amounting to 1.51
percent. Inflation in rural areas is caused by an increase in the price
index for all expenditure groups. The fairly high increase occurred
especially in the clothing, food and prepared food groups.
