Abstract

The NTP for Lampung Province in October 2011 for each subsector was recorded at 133.65 for the Rice & Secondary Crops Subsector (NTP-P), 110.07 for the Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H), 124.90 for the People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-Pr ), 105.43 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-Pt) and 114.21 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTP-Pi). Meanwhile, the Provincial/Combined NTP was recorded at 123.67.

The decline in prices in the food crop sub-sector such as the price of cassava and the decline in prices in the fisheries sub-sector such as kurisi fish, caused Lampung's NTP to fall by 0.02 percent and was driven by the increase in prices of goods and services which were higher than the prices received by farmers.

If the NTP per subsector in October 2011 is compared with September 2011, it can be seen that three NTP subsectors experienced an increase, namely the horticultural crops subsector rose 0.38 percent, the smallholder plantation crops subsector rose 0.45 percent and the livestock subsector rose 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, sub-sectors experienced a decline, namely the food crops sub-sector which fell 0.27 percent and the fisheries sub-sector which fell 0.51 percent.

Of the 32 provinces, 20 provinces experienced an increase in NTP and 12 provinces experienced a decrease in NTP. The highest increase in NTP occurred in West Java Province, namely 1.08 percent, this was because the price paid by farmers only increased by 0.02 percent, while the price received by farmers increased by 1.11 percent. Meanwhile, the largest decline in NTP occurred in Central Sulawesi Province, which fell by 0.76 percent, because the price paid by farmers fell by 0.02 percent, while the price received by farmers fell by a much larger amount, namely 0.78 percent.

October 2011 saw inflation in rural areas in Lampung Province amounting to 0.47 percent. Inflation in rural areas was mainly caused by an increase in the price index in the housing group, and was supported by an increase in indices in other groups except the transportation and communications group.
