Pelita Bangsa Middle School students and students visited the Bandar Lampung City Central Statistics Agency (BPS) on Friday, March 8 2024. This activity aims to increase understanding of population data and the importance of decision making. This agenda is part of the school curriculum. It is hoped that this visit can provide practical experience to students and students. Apart from that, students can learn statistics that are applied in the real world.
At this event, students gain knowledge about collecting, analyzing and interpreting population data, as well as the importance of this data in various sectors of society. A total of 53 students, accompanied by accompanying teachers, were warmly welcomed by the Head of BPS Bandar Lampung City, Akmad Nasrudin and staff.
This agenda was filled with a presentation by Sari Citra Pratiwi. The presentation given was about the meaning of statistics, the difference between census and survey, the meaning of population, and the results and benefits of the 2020 population census. Apart from that, it also explained its role in the planning and decision-making process at the local, regional and national levels. Apart from that, this visit also provided an introduction to the role of BPS.
During the visit, students actively participated in interactive sessions, asked questions, and engaged in discussions. Yosefa, the social studies teacher as the visit coordinator, expressed his appreciation. "This visit is an excellent opportunity for our students to gain practical knowledge about population data. This has helped them in understanding the importance of accurate data in decision making and policy making."
This visit has provided valuable and educational experience for students. Hopefully this activity will be the first step for their academic growth and foster greater appreciation for the role of BPS in development planning.
