BPS-Statistics Bandar Lampung Municipality recorded inflation of 0.44 percent on a month-to-month (m-to-m) basis in February 2026. This figure is higher compared to the same period in February 2025, which recorded deflation of 0.59 percent. Compared to the same period in the previous year (year-on-year/y-on-y), Bandar Lampung Municipality experienced inflation of 2.48 percent in February 2026. "The y-on-y inflation rate in February 2026 is higher than the y-on-y inflation rate in February 2025, which was recorded at 0.09 percent," said Shista Virgo Winatha, a Young Expert Statistician at BPS Bandar Lampung Municipality, on Monday (2/3).

Virgo reported that the highest inflation in Bandar Lampung Municipality occurred in the Housing, Water, ElectriMunicipality, and Household Fuels category, at 18.90 percent, contributing 2.34 percentage points year-over-year (y-o-y). Meanwhile, the lowest inflation occurred in the Transportation category, at 1.19 percent, contributing 0.13 percent year-on-year (y-o-y).

Virgo explained in her statement that the five dominant commodities contributing the highest month-to-month inflation were: gold jewelry (0.10 percent), broiler chicken (0.08 percent), cars (0.07 percent), cayenne pepper (0.06 percent), and red chili peppers (0.05 percent). In February's inflation, commodities also contributed to deflation, thus restraining the overall inflation rate. The five dominant commodities contributing to deflation on a month-to-month basis were: gasoline (0.04%), packaged liquid milk (0.03%), hand and body lotion (0.02%), carrots (0.02%), and deodorant (0.02%).

Furthermore, the year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bandar Lampung Municipality is presented based on eleven expenditure groups. The highest year-on-year inflation rate was recorded in the Housing, Water, ElectriMunicipality, and Household Fuels expenditure group at 18.90 percent. The largest year-on-year contribution to overall inflation remained the same, with the Housing, Water, ElectriMunicipality, and Household Fuels group accounting for 2.34 percent. Meanwhile, the Education group experienced 16.95 percent year-on-year deflation, with a 1.41 percent year-on-year deflation contribution.

"The ten commodities contributing to the highest year-on-year inflation are electriMunicipality tariffs, gold jewelry, broiler chicken, cars, rice, shallots, machine-made clove cigarettes (SKM), house leases, rice with side dishes, and tomatoes," explained Virgo.

Of the four regencies/cities covered by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Lampung Province, in February 2026, the lowest year-on-year inflation was recorded in Bandar Lampung Municipality at 2.48 percent, while the highest year-on-year inflation was in East Lampung Regency at 3.74 percent. Bandar Lampung Municipality recorded 0.44 percent inflation, and East Lampung Regency recorded 0.15 percent month-to-month inflation. Mesuji Regency and Metro Municipality also experienced 0.33 percent and 0.48 percent inflation, respectively.
