July 2023 Area Sampling Framework Survey (KSA)

The Area Sampling Framework Survey (KSA) aims to calculate the estimated harvested area for rice and secondary crops (maize) commodities. The estimated harvested area with the productivity of these commodities will be the production figures for rice and secondary crops (corn) commodities. With the KSA method, it is hoped that the harvested area data will be more accurate and timely. Through information on the KSA observation phase, harvest estimates can also be known for the next few months. Of course, this is very useful for the government in determining national food program policies.
ASF is defined as a sampling approach technique that uses land area as an enumeration unit. This KSA method is used for forecasting harvested area which is up to date and more accurate than the previous method, namely the eye estimate. This system is based on geographic information system (GIS) technology, remote sensing, information technology, and statistics which are currently being implemented in Indonesia to obtain agricultural data and information on food crops. The statistical units that are the target of activities down to the sub-district level, while the objects of food crop agricultural commodities in 2022 are rice and corn
This survey activity was preceded by field officer training activities which were held on 18-19 January 2023 offline at BPS City of Bandar Lampung. As for the number of monthly ASF survey officers for rice plants at BPS Bandar Lampung City, there were 5 PPL and 2 PML, while the number of KSA monthly survey officers for corn plants at BPS Kota Bandar Lampung were 3 PPL and 1 PML. The survey field activities are scheduled to be carried out every month throughout year. The KSA BPS survey samples for Bandar Lampung City were 25 rice segments and 32 corn segments. So, officers from BPS City of Bandar Lampung every month have to go to the fields or fields to look for observation points in each segment.
In July 2023, monthly KSA will be carried out in a span of 7 days at the end of the month.
